116 Ellicott junior his Executors administrators and assigns one female Negro Slave named Harriet aged twenty three years or thereabouts and a Slave for life she being the same that I recently bought from B. Gaither administrator and her child named Victoria aged about three years also a Slave for life. To Have and To Hold the said described negro Slaves to the said Andrew Ellicott junior his Executors administrators and assigns forever and I the said James Phelps for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the said negro Slaves unto the said Andrew Ellicott junior his executors administrators and assigns against me the said James Phelps my executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty second day of June eighteen hundred and forty six Signed Sealed and delivered James Phelps (seal) in the presence of Ebenezer J Stewart At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Ss Be it remembered that on this twenty second day of June A. D. 1846 before the Subscriber a justice of the peace for said County appears James Phelps and acknowledges the above Instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof Acknowledged before Recorded the 24.th day of June 1846 Joshua Stewart costs 62¼ cts
was appointed Trustee to make sale of certain property in the said proceedings mentioned consisting in part of one negro girl named Margaret Elizabeth who was to serve as a Slave until she should have arrived at the age of thirty one years and whose issue born during the term of her servitude should serve as slaves until they should respectively attain to the age of thirty one years and then become free And whereas the said Alexander Randall Trustee as aforesaid in his said capacity as Trustee did offer for sale upon the ninth day of January in the year eighteen hundred and forty five the said negroes Margaret |
