of my being indebted to William Prout of the said County in the sum
of two hundred dollars and also in consideration of the sum of one dollar
in hand paid at or before the sealing of these presents and the delivery
hereof the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained
and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the
said William Prout his executors administrators or assigns the following
described property all the crop of tobacco made by me last year on Mrs
Lyles Farm or my share thereof now in the houses on said farm
one Bay mare Colt one year old six head hogs one sow & pigs two hundred
pound Bacon and all my household and kitchen furniture which
property is now in my possession.  To Have and To Hold the said described
property above bargained and sold to the said William Prout his executors
and administrators shall and will warrant and forever defend by
these presents to the said William Prout his Executors administrators
and assigns the said described property against me my
executors and administrators and against all and every person
or persons whomsoever claiming the same or any part thereof  In
Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed
my seal this third day of June eighteen hundred and forty six

       On the back of the foregoing was thus written to wit

       State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit

       On this third day of June 1846 before me the Subscriber one of the
Justices of the peace for said County & state personally appears William
Lomax he being personally known to me as the identical
person who signed & sealed this instrument of writing and acknowledges
thathe said instrument of writing to be his act and deed
according to the purport true intent and meaning thereof and
the Acts of Assembly in such case made and provided

eighteen hundred and forty six
Know all men by these presents
that I James Phelps of Anne Arundel
County and State of Maryland for
and in consideration of the sum of
three hundred dollars lawful money
of the United States in hand paid by Andrew Ellicott Junior of Howard
District at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt
whereof is hereby acknowledged.  Have granted bargained and sold and by
these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Andrew
