or loss on account of his the said James Owens Senior security to the said
Alexander Randall then and from thenceforth these presents and
every matter and thing therein contained shall cease and be utterly null
and void any thing therein to the contrary thereof in anywise notwithstanding.
In Witness whereof the said Nicholas Owens has hereunto set
his hand and seal on the day and year first above written.

At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

          State of Maryland Anne Arundel County sct.

          Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this twenty
first day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and forty six before the Subscriber a justice of the peace of the State of
Maryland in and for Anne Arundel County aforesaid personally
appears Nicholas Owens he being known to me to be the person who is
named and described as and professing to be a party to the foregoing
indenture and doth acknowledge the said Indenture or instrument
of writing to be his act and deed.  In Testimony whereof I have hereunto
subscribed my name on the day and year aforesaid

Mortgage from Francis Brashears to
Whittington and Snyder dated the
second day of April eighteen hundred
and forty six
This Indenture made this
second day of April in the
year of our Lord eighteen
hundred and forty six
between Francis Brashears
of Anne Arundel County State of Maryland of the one part and
Samuel H Whittington and Benjamin Berry Snyder Merchants of the
City of Baltimore trading under the name style and firm of Whittington
and Snyder of the other part whereas the said Whittington & Snyder have
agreed to accept three drafts of the said Brashears each for the sum of
five hundred dollars payable in four and six and eight months to
Richard Brashears and by him endorsed dated on the first day of April
eighteen hundred and forty six and duly stamped according to law
and whereas it is the object of these presents and of the parties hereto
to secure and save harmless the said Whittington & Snyder as acceptors as
aforesaid  Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said Francis Brashears
for and in consideration of the premises and for and in consideration of
the sum of five dollars current money to him in hand paid by the aforesaid
Whittington and Snyder the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge
