crop unto and to the rise of the said Battee and Lowe their Executors
administrators and assigns in trust nevertheless that the shall and
will as soon as reasonably may be convenient after receipt of said
crop of tobacco all the same crop for the best prices that can be
obtained therefor and the net proceeds thereof apply to the payment
of the monies now due which at the time of such sale may be due from
me to the said Battee and Lowe and the residue of said proceeds if any to
payments me my executors administrators or assigns and I do hereby
covenant and agree to and with the said Battee & Lowe that I will
with all convenient dispatch and at my own proper cost and charge
strip pack and prepare said tobacco for market and ship the same to
the City of Baltimore consigned to the said Battee and Lowe for the
purpose of sale as aforesaid Witness my hand and seal this first day
of April in the year eighteen hundred and forty five

          At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

          Anne Arundel County to wit

    On this first day of April in the year eighteen hundred and forty
five before me a justice of the peace in and for said County personally
appeared the within named Francis Brashears and acknowledged
the within Instrument of writing to be his act and deed

                                  Know all men by these presents that I Vachel Severe

of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland in order
more fully to secure a debt of four thousand dollars due
by me to John T. Hodges of the County and state aforesaid have
granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant
bargain and sell unto the said John T. Hodges his executors
administrators and assigns three negro boys hereinafter more
particularly described namely John who was nine year of age on the
seventeenth day of August last Isaac alias Isaiah who was six years
of age on the sixteenth day of February last Elias who was four years of
age in the twelfth day of July last sons of a certain negro woman Maria
who with her increase was manumitted by deed from the said Vachel
Sevier dated the fourth day of January Eighteen hundred and thirty two
the said Maria to remain in servitude until the fourth day of
January eighteen hundred and thirty two the said Maria to remain in
servitude until the fourth day of January eighteen hundred and forty two
