and the further sum of two hundred and twenty two dollars and twenty two cents
on the Eleventh day of may Eighteen hundred and forty three Current money with
interest on the whole amount from the eleventh day of may Eighteen hundred and
forty then this bill of sale and every matter and thing therein expressed shall be void
and of none effect it being the true intent and meaning thereof that the said
described property is mortgaged by me the said William Harwood to secure to the
Benjamin Watkins the payment of the money aforesaid  In witness whereof I
the said William Harwood have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this
thirteenth day of may Eighteen hundred & forty
Sealed and delivered in the presence

in the fourth line was insertered previous to the signing & delivery of these presents

             At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

             State of maryland A A County To wit  Be it remembered that on this
thirteenth day of may Eighteen hundred and forty before me the subscriber
a Justice of the peace of the state of maryland in and for said County personally
appears William Harwood the party grantor in the aforegoing bill of sale and
acknowledges the same to be his act and deed and the property thereby bargained
and sold to be the right and Estate of Benjamin Watkins the party grantee also
therein mentioned for the purposes therein mentioned and I do hereby Certify
that I am satisfied of my own knowledge that William Harwood the person
making the acknowledgment is the person who is named and described
as and professing to be the party grantor in the said bill of sale

                                                 Baltimore July 2nd 1835

         Received of George Gale of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland Five
Dollars in full of claims and demands against him of every sort and description
to this date with the exception of the Amount of Twelve thousand five hundred
Dollars secured by mortgage bearing even date herewith and in Consideration
thereof we do hereby authorize him to receive for his own use any personal Estate
in Anne Arundel County in the state of maryland to which we or either of us
are now entitled or to which we have a vested Interest of any sort or
description
