for said County and acknowledges the within deed or Instrument of writing
to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof
And the acts of assembly in such Case made and provided

This Indenture made this Twenty fourth of Nov.r in the year of our Lord
One thousand Eight hundred and thirty Eight between William M Gorsuch and
James Rhodes of Anne Arundel County and State of Maryland of the one
part and the Savage Manufacturing Company of the same County and state
of the other part to wit  Whereas the said William M Gorsuch and James
Rhodes by these four promissory notes bearing date on the first day of
August Eighteen hundred and thirty Eight has promised to pay to the aforesaid
Savage Manufacturing Company the sum of two thousand One hundred and
ninety dollars and fifteen cents in equal sums of five hundred and forty seven
dollars and fifty four Cents each at the End of Six twelve Eighteen and twenty
four months from the date thereof for value received  And Whereas to secure the
payment of the said promissory notes at the time therein limited the Said
William M Gorsuch and James Rhodes are willing to Execute these presents
Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said William M Gorsuch and James
Rhodes for and in Consideration of the premises and of the sum of five dollars
Current money to them in hand paid by the said Savage Manufacturing
Company at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged has granted bargained
and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said
Savage Manufacturing Company and its assigns all and singular the
goods and manufacturing implements following to wit  ten second hand finisher
Cards Eighteen inches wide with Clothing valued at one hundred dollars each
two new dead spindle warp throstles iron frame of one hundred and
twenty Eight Spindles each valued at five dollars per spindle 2 double
Speeders of 18 Spindles each valued at two hundred and fifty dollars each
and one lapping head and railway Eighteen inches wide valued at one
hundred dollars said implements being now in use at the factory ocupied
by the said William M Gorsuch and James Rhodes at Elyo Ville on the
patapsco river in Anne Arundel County  To have and To hold all and
Singular the aforesaid goods and manufacturing implements unto
the said Savage Manufacturing Company and its assigns to its and there
own use and behoof  Provided always and it is hereby declared to be the
