true intent and meaning of these presents that if the said William
M Gorsuch and James Rhodes do and shall well and truly pay or
cause to be paid to the said Savage Manufacturing Company or its
assigns the full sum of two thousand one hundred and ninety dollars
and fifteen Cents upon the terms and at the periods of time set forth and
limited in the four promissory notes aforementioned then and in such
Case this Indenture and every matter and thing herein Contained shall
Cease determine and be utterly void and of none effect anything herein
Contained to the Contrary Notwithstanding  And the said William
M Gorsuch and James Rhodes for themselves their heirs executors and
administrators doth Covenant promise and agree to and with the
said Savage Manufacturing Company that they the said William
M Gorsuch and James Rhodes there heirs executors or administrators
shall and will well and truly pay or cause to be paid to the said
Savage Manufacturing Company or its assigns the said sum of two
thousand one hundred and ninety dollars and fifteen Cents Current
money at such times and after such manner as is set forth in the
four promissory notes before mentioned to wit five hundred and
forty seven dollars and fifty four Cents at the end of Six months
a like sum at the end of twelve months a like sum at the end of
Eighteen months and a like sum at the end of twenty four months
with Interest from the first day of August Eighteen hundred and
thirty Eight  In Testimony whereof the said Wm M Gorsuch and
James Rhodes hath hereunto set their hands and seals on the day and
year first above written
Signed Sealed and delivered              William M Gorsuch   (seal)
             in the presence of
             Tho.s C Miller                      James Rhodes          (seal)

                   At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

State of Maryland Anne Arundel County  Be it remembered
and it is hereby Certified that on this 24th day of Nov.r in the year
of Eighteen hundred and thirty Eight before the Subscriber one of the
Justices of the peace for Anne Arundel County appeared William
M Gorsuch & James Rhodes and acknowledged the aforegoing
Instrument to be their act & Deed for the purposes therein mentioned
