    Know all men by these presents that I Ann Harman of Anne Arundel
County in the state of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred
dollars Current money to me in hand paid by Louisa A Harman of the County and
State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt
whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these
presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Louisa A Harman her executors
administrators and assigns a certain negro boy named Charles Rawlings said
boy being ten years of age and to serve until thirty years of age agreeably to a
manumission executed by Seth Sweitser of baltimore City in favor of Mary Diggs
the mother of said boy as will more fully appear by referance to the records of
Baltimore City or County to wits  To have and To hold the above named boy
above bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so to be to the said
Louisa A Harman her Executors administrators and assigns and I the said
Ann Harman for myself my heirs Executors and administrators do hereby confirm
abovenamed boy at the sealing of these presents In witness whereof I have set my
hand and affixt my seal this thirtieth day of January Eighteen hundred
and forty

                      On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit  On this thirtieth day of
January Eighteen hundred and forty Personally appears before me the
subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for Anne Arundel County aforesaid
Ann Harman party bargainor to the aforegoing Instrument of writing and
acknowledges the same to be her act and deed according to the true intent
and meaning thereof                        Frederick G Harman

Recorded the 14th day of February 1840


    Know all men by these Presents that I Howes Goldsborough of Anne Arundel
County and state of maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of one
thousand dollars Current money of maryland to me in hand paid by Eleanora
M Goldsborough of Talbott County and state aforesaid the receipt whereof I do
hereby acknowledge and am Therewith fully Satisfied have bargained
sold and delivered and by these Presents do bargain sell and deliver unto
