Gaither before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid
and acknowledged the within Instrument of writing to be her act and
deed for the purposes therein mentioned according to the true intent and
meaning thereof                                    Joseph Sands

    Know all men by these present that I Matilda Bourke of Anne
Arundel County in the state of maryland administratrix of all the goods
and chattels rights and Credits of Tobias Bourke late of said County deceased
for and in Consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars lawful money
of the United States to me in hand paid by William Eden of the City of
Baltimore in the state aforesaid at or before the ensealing and delivery
of these presents the receipt and payment whereof I do hereby acknowledge
have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain
and sell unto him the said William Eden his Executors administrators
and assigns the following negroes Slaves for life the same being part of
the personal Estate of the said Tobias Bourke to wit  Negro Slave named
Jane supposed to be about thirty four of age Negro Boy Slave named
Ephraim aged about seven years Negro Boy Slave named William
aged about two years and negro Girl slave named maria aged now
about two months  To have and To hold the said Negro woman Slave named
Jane and the said Negro Boy Slaves named Ephraim and William the
first aged about seven years and the latter aged about two years and
the Negro Girl Slave named Maria aged about two months before mentioned
and above bargained and sold or intended hereby so to be to the said
William Eden his Executors administrators and assigns for ever and to and
for no other use intent and purpose whatsoever and I the said Matilda
Bourke for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the said
Negro woman named Jane as a Slave and the said Negro Boys
named Ephraim and William as Slaves and the the said Negro Girl
named Maria as a Slave unto the said William Eden his Executors
administrators and assigns against me the said Matilda Bourke my
Executors administrators and assigns and against all and every other
person and persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and for ever
defend by these presents  In Witness whereof I the said Matilda
Bourke administratrix aforesaid have hereunto set my hand and affixed
my seal this Eighth day of October Eighteen hundred and thirty nine
