52 respectively the said negro boy Peter by these presents to the said Henry Hodges heirs and assigns for and during said term against me and my heirs and against all persons whomsoever claiming or to claim any right title or interest in and to him In witness whereof the said George W Wilson and Henry Hodges have hereunto respectively subscribed their names and affixed their several seals the twentyeth day of August in the year one thousand Eight hundred and thirty nine Witness William B Chairs George W Wilson (seal) Henry Hodges (seal) State of Maryland Anne Arundel to wit On this twentyeth day of august in the year one thousand Eight hundred and thirty nine before the Subscribers Justices of the peace for the state in the County aforesaid personally appeared George W Wilson and Henry Hodges who are personally known to us to be the parties named in the foregoing Instrument of writing and respectively acknowledged the same to be their act and deed William B Chairs Exd d d chd $.60 4¾ Recorded the 7.th day of September 1839 Know all Men by these that I George W Wilson of Anne Arundel County in the state of maryland who intermarried with Mary Taylor one of the legatees named in the last will and testament of Sarah Pumphrey late of Anne Arundel County deceased for and in Consideration of the sum of three hundred and seventy five dollars Current money to me in hand paid by William B Chairs of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland aforesaid hath granted bargained and sold and doth grant bargain and sell unto the said William B Chairs his heirs and assigns my two negro Boys Joe and John who were devised to my said wife by the aforementioned last will and testament By which it appears having reference to the record of their ages returned by the Executor of said last will and testament that Joe hd six years and three months to serve from the twenty ninth day of March Eighteen hundred and thirty Eight last and that John had to serve twenty one years and four months from the twenty ninth day of march Eighteen hundred and thirty Eight last To have and to hold the said negro boys Joe and John during their respective term of servitude to him the said William B Chairs his heirs and Assigns to his and their only proper use and benefit And I the said (George) |
