41 acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said William Bryan his Executors administrators and assigns the following negroes to wit Eliza aged about twenty Eight and her two Children named William and Maria which said Eliza was manumitted by the last will and testament of Edward Williams late of said County deceased reference being thereto had will more fully and at large appear the said William to serve until he reaches the age of thirty five years reference being had to a deed or manumission executed by the said Editha Williams on the fifteenth day of November Eighteen hundred and thirty seven and now of record in the office of the Clerk of said County will more fully appear the said maria to serve until she reaches the age of thirty five as by reference also to the last recited deed will more fully appear To have and to hold all and singular the said negroes above described and bargained and sold or mentioned or intended so to be to the said William Bryan his Executors administrators and assigns forever and I the said Editha Williams for myself my heirs Executors and administrators all and singular the said negroes unto the said William Bryan his Executors administrators and assigns against me the said Editha Williams my Executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents In Witness whereof I the said Editha Williams have hereunto subscribed my name and set my seal this thirtieth day of may Eighteen hundred and thirty nine Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Gabriel H Duvall Editha Williams (seal) At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sct On this thirtieth day of may 1839 personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the County and state aforesaid Editha William she being personally know to me as the person who is named and described as and professing to be a part to the foregoing Instrument of writing and doth acknowledge the same to be her act and deed In Testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name on the day and year aforesaid Gabriel H Duvall chd 60 4¾ Recorded the 4th day of June 1839 Know all men by these that I Areyminta Stinchcomb of Baltimore County and state of maryland for the Consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars Current money to me in hand paid by George Fox of Anne Arundel County & state aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and delivered and by these presents do grant bargain sell and deliver unto the said George Fox one negro boy by the name (of) |
