subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for said county personally appears
William Chase he being known to me to be the person who is named and described
as and professing to be a party to the foregoing deed or Indenture and doth
acknowledge the said Indenture or instrument of writing to be his act and deed
In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on the day and year

       Know all men by these presents that I Benjamin Brown of Anne
Arundel County and State of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of
Twenty Eight dollars and sixty six Cents to me in hand paid by Bassil Shepherd
of the County and State aforesaid at or before the ensealing and delivering of these
presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and
sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Basil Shepherd
his heirs and assigns all my crop of Tobacco now in the house  To have and To hold
the said Tobacco to the said Basil Shepherd and his heirs or assigns for ever
Provided nevertheless that in case I the said Benja Brown shall pay and satisfy
to the said Basil Shepherd or his order the said sum of Twenty Eight dollars and
sixty six Cents with all interest upon the same on or before the first day of May
one thousand Eight hundred and forty five then this bill of sale and every
matter therein shall be void otherwise to remain in full force      In Witness
whereof I the said Benjamin Brown have hereunto set my hand and
affixed my seal this 24 day of December 1844

          On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

       Maryland Anne Arundel County ss  On this 24 day of December 1844 personally
appears Benjamin Brown before the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for
said County and acknowledged the within deed or instrument of writing to be
his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the Act of
Assembly in such case made and provided  Witness my hand the day and year

Eighteen hundred and forty five Between Francis Thomas of Anne Arundel
County and State of maryland of the one part and George W Richardson of
