365 same unto the said President Directors and Company of the Farmers Bank of maryland forever Provided and these presents are upon this Condition that if the said Howard M Duvall shall well and truly pay unto the said President Directors and Company of the Farmers Bank of maryland the said sum of six hundred dollars on or before the 16th day of April next then and in that case these presents shall be void else to remain in full force and effect Witness my hand and seal this 30th day of October 1844 Wm Glover Howd M Duvall (seal) At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County sct On this 30 day of October 1844 before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the State of maryland in and for the County aforesaid personally appears Howard M Duvall the above named grantor and acknowledges the foregoing instrument to be his act and deed Wm Glover 62 3½ Recorded the 1st day of November 1844 This Indenture made on this seventeenth day of October in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty four Between Andrew Ellicott Junior of Howard District of Anne Arundel County and Owen Cecil of the same County and State of the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and seventy five dollars Current money to the said Andrew Ellicott Junior in hand paid by the said Owen Cecil at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged the said Andrew Ellicott Junior has bargained and sold assigned and transferred and by these presents doth grant bargain sell assign and transfer unto the said Owen Cecil his Executors administrators and assigns one Negro boy named John Helmsley aged seventeen years and by the terms of his Indenture to become free at his age of twenty nine years To have and To hold the above described negro boy John Helmsley unto the said Owen Cecil his Executors administrators and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the said Owen Cecil his Executors administrators and assigns from the day of the date of these presents until the seventeenth day of April in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty six at which time the said John Helmsley shall become free And the said Andrew Ellicott Junior for himself his heirs Executors and administrators the said Negro John Helmsley unto the said Owen Cecil his Executors administrators and assigns against him the said Andrew Ellicott Junior his Executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever doth hereby Covenant grant promise and agree to warrant and defend forever In Testimony whereof the said Andrew Ellicott Junior and Owen Cecil have hereto (subscribed) |
