             At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

       State of Maryland Baltimore County  Be it remembered That on this nineteenth
day of October in the year Eighteen hundred & forty four before the subscriber a
Justice of the peace for said County personally appeared Andrew Ellicott Junior
and Owen Cecil and acknowledged the foregoing indenture to be their respective
act & deed            Acknowledged before               N Warfield

       Know all men by these presents that I William Watts of Anne Arundel
County in the State of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of seven
hundred and seventy five dollars Current money to me in hand paid by Thomas J
Brice and John Brice of the aforesaid County in the said State at and before the
sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I the said William Watts
do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do
grant bargain and sell unto the said Thomas J Brice and John Brice their
Executors administrators and assigns the following Negroes to wit:  one negro
woman named Harriet aged about 30 years and her two sons George aged about
13 years and Lewis aged about 3 years all and singular which said negroes are
now in the possession of the said Thomas J Brice and John Brice  To have and To
hold all and singular the said negroes above bargained and sold or mentioned
and intended so to be to the said Thomas J Brice and John Brice their Executors
administrators and assigns for ever and I the said William Watts for myself my
heirs Executors and administrators all and singular the said negroes unto the said
Thomas J Brice and John Brice their Executors administrators and assigns against
me the said William Watts my Executors and administrators and against all and
every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and for ever defend
by these presents of all and singular which said negroes I the said William Watts
have put the said Thomas J Brice and John Brice in full possession by delivering
to them the said Thomas J Brice and John Brice one dollar at the sealing and
delivery of these presents in the sum of the said negroes hereby bargained and sold
or mentioned and intended to be unto their the said Thomas J Brice and John Brice
as aforesaid   In Witness whereof the said William Watts has hereunto set his
hand and seal this twenty Eighth day of October one thousand Eight hundred
and forty four
