and Eighty Eight dollars to serve the same Richard J Cowman his Executors
administrators or assigns until the first day of May in the year Eighteen hundred
and sixty five when the said negro man will be free  To have and To hold the
said described Negro man to the said Richard J Cowman his Executors administrators
and assigns for and during the aforesaid terms of years  In Testimony whereof we
have hereunto set our hands and seals this ninth day of October in the year Eighteen
hundred and forty four

          At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

          State of maryland Anne Arundel County to wit:  Be it remembered That on
the seventh day of October in the year Eighteen hundred and forty four before the
subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County and State aforesaid personally
appears the above named John Johnson and Thomas S Alexander and
acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be their act and deed for the
purpose therein mentioned                           J W Hunter

       This Indenture made this fifth day of October in the year Eighteen
hundred and forty four  Between Washington G Tuck of Anne Arundel County
in the State of maryland of the one part and Lewis Tydings of the said
County & State of the other part  Whereas the said Washington G Tuck stands
indebted to the said Tydings in the sum of one hundred and seven dollars
and twenty seven Cents on an account this day settled with the said parties
to secure the payment of which this deed is Executed   Now this Deed
Witnesseth that the said Tuck for and in consideration of the premises
and for and in consideration of the sum of five dollars to him in hand
paid by the said Tydings the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hat
granted bargained and sold and hereby doth grant bargain and sell
unto the said Lewis Tydings his Executors administrators and assigns all
his Crop of Tobacco the growth of this year now out and hanging in the
houses or growing on the farm of the said Tuck in South river neck in the
said County supposed to contain about fifteen thousand pounds of Tobacco
more or less subject however to the lien or Execution since in the hands of the
sheriff of the said County and payment of J Edward Bird against the said
Tuck  To have and To hold unto the said Tydings his Executors administrators
and assigns for ever  Provided always and these presents are Executed on the
condition that if the said Tuck do and shall well and truly pay the aforesaid
