351 peace of the State of maryland and for Anne Arundel County aforesaid personally appeared James Laramore Junr he being known to me to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be a party to the foregoing bill of sale or Indenture and doth acknowledge the said Indenture or instrument of writing to be his act and deed In Testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name on the day and year aforesaid paid R Welch of Ben Justice of the peace 98 8 Recorded the 7th day of August 1844 This deed made this twenty second day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty four Between William S Green of the one part and the State of maryland of the other part Whereas the said William S Green owes and stands indebted to the said State of maryland in a large sum of money on sundry Judgments against him resident in Anne Arundel County Court Now this deed Witnesseth that the said William S Green for and in Consideration of the above recited premises and for and in Consideration of the sum of one dollar Current money to him in hand paid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said William S Green doth grant bargain and sell and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said State of maryland all the [illegible] particularly described and expressed in a mortgage executed by him the said William S Green and wife to the Resident Directors and Company of The Farmers Bank of maryland and dated the third day of August in the year Eighteen hundred and thirty six and recorded in Liber W S G N.o 24 folio 262 [illegible] record books of Anne Arundel County (except a negro man named Bill who has since been disposed of and the proceeds of sale applied to the payment in part of the said debt due to the said Bank) To have and To hold all and singular the said negroes herein before described unto the said State of maryland from and after the payment of the said mortgaged debt due to the said Bank provided always and these presents are upon this Condition the [illegible] the said William S Green his Executors or administrators shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said State of maryland or its certain Attorney the said sums of money due upon the said Judgments from and after the payment of the said debt due to the said Bank then and in that case these presents and every matter and thing herein Contained shall determine and be utterly null and void anything herein Contained to the Contrary notwithstanding and provided also that untill default shall be made in payment of the said sum of money and interest thereon the aforesaid property hereby granted shall remain in the possession of the said William (S) |
