339 strength of body and mind also I give and set over all my interest right title and Estate both at law and equity of my negro slave Stephen Wallace aged about fifty five years of sound health of body and mind and able to work and Stephen I give to Philip D Henry Carr my son and his heirs to be kept by him and taken care of and not alienated from him in any way during his natural life but comfortably provided for in food and raiment and house to live in where he can see him supplied with the necessaries of life which he shall live I also give and make over to Ann Elizabeth Carr my youngest daughter my Negro Girl Emeline Jackson aged twenty four years old to have and own the said Negro Girl the said Ann E Carr during her natural life to the said Ann E Carr and her heirs and assigns and to and for no other use or purpose whatsoever To have and To hold the same negroes as aforesaid described and their increase of issue should they ever have any children to them their heirs Executors or assigns for ever and to and for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever to their and each of their only proper use and benefit And I the said Ann Carr for myself my Executors and administrators and assigns the said Negroes as described against me my Executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whomsoever claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof will warrant and for ever hereafter defend to the use and benefit of the said Susan Carr P D H Carr and Ann E Carr and their heirs Executors administrators & assigns as aforesaid by these presents In Testimony whereof I the said Ann Carr have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 18 day of June one thousand Eight hundred and forty four Ann Carr (seal) Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Lewis Sutton Sr T J Lawrence At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of maryland Anne Arundle County to wit On this Eighteenth day of June one thousand Eight hundred and forty four before me one of the Justices of the peace in and for the State and County as aforesaid appeared Ann Carr and acknowledged the foregoing writing or bill of sale to be her act and deed the Negroes therein conveyed to be the right and Estate of the persons therein named according to the true intent and meaning of the same and the Acts of Assembly as in such a case is made and provided As Witness my hand paid Done before Lewis Sutton Sr 75 6¾ Recorded the 24th day of June 1844 Know all men by these presents that I James Larimore Junior of Anne Arundel County State of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of Seventy five (dollars) |
