329 receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have as administrator of Charlotte Gray granted bargained sold and delivered and by these presents do grant bargain sell and deliver unto the said Stephen Gray his Executors administrators and assigns the aforesaid deceased's Negro slaves Sarah Henry and Thomas To have and To hold the said female slave Sarah and male slaves Henry and Thomas unto the said Stephen Gray his Executors administrators and assigns from the day of the date of these presents Sarah untill the 22nd day of February Eighteen hundred and fifty two Henry untill the 16 day of march Eighteen hundred and seventy four and Thomas untill the 16 day of march Eighteen hundred and seventy seven and not longer at their or which dates their respective term of servitude expires and said Slaves will before by virtue of the last will and testament of a certain John Boone of Nicholas late of Anne Arundel County deceased the said Slaves for said terms of service I Dorsey Jacob as administrator of Charlotte Gray will warrant and defend and by these presents do warrant and defend unto the said Stephen Gray his Executors administrators and assigns against me my Executors administrators and assigns and against all other person or persons whatsoever In Witness whereof I hereunto set my name and affixed my seal this twenty third day of April Eighteen hundred and forty four In presence of Rob.t Boone Dorsey Jacob (seal) Orlander Hancock Stephen Gray (seal) On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of maryland county of Anne Arundel sc Be it remembered That on this twenty third day of April Eighteen hundred and forty four before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of said State in and for said county duly Commissioned and sworn personally appeared Dorsey Jacob and Stephen Gray they being known unto me to be the persons who we named and described as and professing to be the parties to the foregoing bill of sale or instrument of writing and acknowledged the sum to be their act and deed In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on the day and year above written Robt Boone paid 60 3 Recorded the 3rd day of May 1844 Know all men by these presents that I Samuel Summerland of Anne Arundel County and State of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand and fifty dollars Current money which I justly owe and stand indebted to William H Wood of the County and State aforesaid and for and in consideration of the further sum of one dollar Current money to me in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents by the said William H Wood have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell unto the said William H Wood (the) |
