324 grantee Acknowledged before J W Hunter chd 68 5 Recorded the 16 day of April 1844 Know all men by these presents that I Edwd C Williams of Anne Arundel County in the State of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand and four dollars Current money to me in hand paid by Editha Williams of the County and State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Edward C Williams do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Editha Williams her Executors administrators and assigns the following described negroes one negro man named Tom who is a slave for term of years one negro boy named Stephen sometimes called Moses who is also a slave for a term of years one negro boy named Alexander a slave for life one Negro Girl Ellen also for life To have and To hold the above mentioned negroes above bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so to be to the said Editha Williams her Executors administrators and assigns for the aforesaid term of servitude of said negroes for a term of years and the others for life and I the said Edward C Williams for myself my heirs Executors and administrators all and singular the said negroes unto the said Editha Williams her Executors administrators and assigns against me the said Edward C Williams my Executors administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents In Witness hereof we the said Edward C Williams and Editha Williams have hereunto set our hands and seals this fifteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty four Edward C Williams (seal) Signed Sealed and delivered in the Editha Williams (seal) presence of J W Hunter At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of maryland Anne Arundel County fst Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this fifteenth day of April in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty four before the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for the County aforesaid personally appears Edward C Williams and Editha Williams they being known to us to be the persons who is named and described as and professing to be parties to the foregoing certificate and doth acknowledge the same to be their act and deed In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid J W Hunter Exd d chd 60 4¼ Recorded the 16 day of April 1844 |
