318 the said John S Selby do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Nicholas J Watkins his Executors administrators and or assigns the herein before mentioned sum of money then and in such case these presents and every matter and thing herein contained shall cease determine and be utterly void to all intents and purposes anything herein Contained to the Contrary notwithstanding In Witness whereof the said John S Selby hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written John S Selby (seal) Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Wm Glover At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of maryland Anne Arundel County sc Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this Eleventh day of March Eighteen hundred and forty four before the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland in and for the County aforesaid personally appears John S Selby he being known to me to be the person who is named and described at and professing to be the party to the foregoing deed or indenture and doth acknowledge the same to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned In Testimony whereof I hereunto set unto my name on the day and year aforesaid Wm Glover Exd d d chd 75 5¼ Recorded the 20 day of March 1844 Know all men by these presents that I Elijah R Arnold of Anne Arundel County and State of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars Current money to me in hand paid by Thomas Brown of same County and State at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Elijah R Arnold do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Thomas Brown his Executors administrators and assigns a Mulatto woman named Mary aged Eighteen years about the twenty fifth day of December Eighteen hundred and forty three and be same untill she arrive at the age of thirty years To have and To hold the said mulatto woman above bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so to be to the said Thomas Brown his Executors administrators and assigns and I the said Elijah R Arnold for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the said Mulatto woman unto the said Thomas Brown his Executors administrators and assigns against me the said Elijah R Arnold my Executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and defend by these presents and I the said Elijah R Arnold have put the said Thomas Brown in full possession by delivering to him the said Thomas Brown the said mulatto woman at the sealing and delivering of these presents in the name of the whole premises hereby bargained and sold or mentioned and intended to (be) |
