307 in and professing to be the party to the foregoing bill of sale and did acknowledge the said instrument of writing to be his act and deed In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid Exd d d Zachariah Merriken paid 62 5 Recorded the 11th day of January 1844 Know all men by these presents that I John S Selby of Anne Arundel County for the purpose of making provision for payment of monies now due and owing from me to Richard H Battee and William L Lowe of the City of Baltimore and in consideration of the sum of one dollar Current money to me in hand paid by the said Battee and Lowe at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold assigned and set over and by these presents do grant bargain and sell assign and set over unto the said Battee and Lowe their Executors administrators and assigns all my Crop of Tobacco estimated at from ten to twenty hogsheads now hanging and being in house on my estate in Anne Arundel County To have and To hold the same Crop of Tobacco and every part and parcel thereof unto and to the use of the said Battee and Lowe their Executors administrators and assigns the same Crop of Tobacco to be by them sold as soon after receipt thereof as may be reasonably convenient and the proceeds thereof applied in part payment of the monies now due and owing from me to them In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 19th day of January in the year Eighteen hundred and forty four Signed Sealed & delivered in John S Selby (seal) presence of J W Hunter The said Execution in line 22d being first made At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County to wit: On this 19 day of January 1844 before me a Justice of the peace in and for said County personally appeared the within named John S Selby and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his act and deed J W Hunter paid Exd d d 50 3¼ Recorded the 19 day of January 1844 Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Chaney of Anne Arundel County and State of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred and sixty dollars Current money of the United States to me in hand paid by James Chaney of the County & State aforesaid at and before the ensealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I |
