the aforegoing instrument of writing and acknowledged the same to be his act
and deed according to the purport true intent and meaning thereof and the Acts
of Assembly in such case made and provided  Acknowledged before and Certified

3¾      Recorded the 30 day of December 1843


          Know all men by these presents that I Elijah R Arnold of Anne
Arundel County in the State of maryland for and in consideration of the sum
of four hundred dollars Current money to me in hand paid by Thomas J Mezick
of same county in said State at and before the sealing and delivering of these
presents the receipt whereof I the said Elijah R Arnold do hereby acknowledge
have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain
and sell unto the said Thomas J Mezick his Executors administrators and
assigns two Negro boys one named Horace and aged Eighteen years nd
the other named Sam and aged fifteen years each and both to serve till
they arrive at the age of thirty years  To have and To hold the said negro
boys above bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so to be to
the said Thomas J Mezick his Executors administrators and assigns  And
I the said Elijah R Arnold for myself my heirs Executors and administrators
the said negro boys unto the said Thomas J Mezick his Executors administrators
and assigns against me the said Elijah R Arnold my Executors
and administrators and against all and every other person or persons
whatsoever shall and will warrant and defend by these presents and I
the said Elijah R Arnold have put the said Thomas J Mezick in full
possession by delivering to him the said Thomas J Mezick the said negro
boys at the sealing and delivering of these presents in the name of the whole
premises hereby bargained and sold or mentioned and intended to be so unto
him the said Thomas J Mezick as aforesaid  In Witness whereof I hereunto
set my hand and seal this Eleventh day of December in the year of our
Lord one thousand and Eight hundred and forty three

             At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

          State of maryland Anne Arundel County sct

                Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this Eleventh
day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred
and forty three before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the
State of maryland in and for Anne Arundel County as aforesaid personally
appear Elijah R Arnold he being known to me to be the person named
