301 To have and To hold the said negro boy Robert Stepney above bargained & sold to him the said Thomas J Mezick his heirs and assigns for ever And it is hereby expressly agreed by and between the parties of the first and second part thereto the said Orlando Hancock under takes to convey no more than the title he has in said negro boy and that the said Thomas J Mezick is to have no recourse to the said Orlando Hancock in case the title of said Hancock in said negro boy is defective In Witness whereof the said Orlando Hancock hath hereto set his hand and affixed his seal this 11th day of December 1843 Orlando Hancock (seal) Test J W Hunter At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Recd 11th December 1843 of Thomas J Mezick one hundred & sixty three dollars and twenty Cents the Consideration money mentioned in the foregoing bill of sale Test J W Hunter Orlando Hancock Maryland Anne Arundel County sc Be it remembered That on this 11 day of December 1843 personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for Anne Arundel County the above named Orlando Hancock known to me to as the Identical person mentioned in the foregoing bill of sale as grantor and whom I Certify to be such and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed for the purposes therein declared according to the true intent & meaning thereof Exd d d Acknowledged before J W Hunter chd 70 5¼ Recorded the 12th day of December 1843 This Indenture made this Eleventh day of December in the year one thousand Eight hundred and forty three Between Orlando Hancock of Anne Arundel County Maryland of the one part and Thomas J Mezick of the same place of the other part Witnesseth that whereas Joshua Johnson of Anne Arundel County on the 30th day of September in the year one thousand Eight hundred and forty two by his deed or mortgage of that state duly Executed and recorded in Liber W J G N.o 2 folio 198 one of the personal deed record books of Anne Arundel County did grant bargain and sell unto the said Orlando Hancock his heirs and assigns for ever in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty three dollars Current money one negro boy called Robert Stepney to serve the said Orlando until he should arrive to the age of thirty one years provided that if the said Joshua Johnson his Executors or administrators should pay and satisfy the said Orlando Hancock his heirs Executors administrators or assigns the said sum of one hundred & fifty three dollars with Interest for the same on or before the last day of August 1843 the said deed of mortgage should be of no effect And whereas the said Joshua Johnson departed this life serve the Execution of said heretofore (executed) |
