290 acknowledges the foregoing instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the Acts of Assembly in such cases made and provided "deed" being first interlined in the above acknowledgment chd 63 4½ Recorded the 26 day of October 1843 Whereas by virtue of sundry writs of fieri facias of and against the goods and chattels lands and tenements of William Urquhart I levied on and sold a Negro Girl named Adeline as the property of said Urquhart and all his right title claim and interest to the same on the fifth day of February 1843 at the sale of which negro William H Cunningham became the purchaser at and for the sum of Twenty dollars Current money Now Know all men by these presents that I George D Claytor for and in consideration of the said sum of twenty dollars Current money have given granted bargained and sold unto James William Cunningham the said Negro Girl Adeline As Witness my hand and seal this day of October 1843 Geo D Claytor Dep Shff (seal) At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of maryland Anne Arundel County to wit: October twenty sixth 1843 Then came George D Claytor before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said County and acknowledged the above bill of sale or instrument of writing to be his act and deed and the negro therein mentioned to be the right and estate of the within named James William Cunningham according to the purport true intent and meaning of the same and the Acts of Assembly in such case made and provided chd Acknowledged before J W Hunter 43 2½ Recorded the 26 day of October 1843 This Indenture made this twentieth day of October in the year Eighteen hundred and forty three Between Benjamin Watkins of Ben of Anne Arundel County Maryland of the one part and Samuel Augustus Clagett and Charles Clagett of the said County and State of the other part Witnesseth that the said Benjamin Watkins of Ben for and in consideration of the sum of three thousand six hundred and seventy dollars Current money hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Samuel Augustus Clagett and Charles Clagget and to the survivor of them and to the Executors and administrators of such survivor the following Negroes Slaves to wit Phillis Abraham George Hannah Jacob and Bhoda and her three children also four head of horses three milch cows and all other the stock household and kitchen (furniture) |
