273 Know all men by these presents that Joshua Grimes of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland Executor of the last will and testament of Moses Lawrence late of said County deceased for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars Current money the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold to Richard Crisp who is and has been for more than one year past a bona fide resident of the said County and State and by these presents doth grant bargain sell and deliver and assign and transfer unto the said Richard Crisp his Executors administrators and assigns one negro Girl named Ellen of Black Complexion born on the fifth day of September Eighteen hundred and twenty Eight whose mother a certain negro Priss was by the last will and testament of one John Boone of Nicholas late of said County deceased admitted to probate by the Orphans Court of said County on the twenty second day of September in the year Eighteen hundred and seven manumitted to be free at the age of thirty five years she and all her increase or Children including the said Ellen To have and To hold the said Negro Girl Ellen for and during the period of service aforesaid that is to say until the fifth day of September Eighteen hundred and sixty three when the said Ellen will attain the age of thirty five years with all the issue the said Ellen may have on or before she attains the age of thirty five years for the term of years aforesaid this is to say unto the said issue or Children of the said Joshua Grimes and the said ^Richard^ Crisp have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals this twenty first day of August in the year Eighteen hundred and forty three Signed Sealed and delivered in presence Joshua Grimes (seal) of Mareen M Duvall his Richard x Crisp (seal) mark At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Be it remembered that on this twenty first day of August in the year one thousand Eight hundred and forty three before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the said State in and for Anne Arundel County aforesaid personally appears Joshua Grimes Executor of Moses Lawrence and Richard Crisp the parties in the aforegoing bill of sale or instrument of writing and acknowledge the same to be their act and deed Mareen M Duvall Exd d d paid 60 4¼ Recorded the 26 day of August 1843 Know all men by these presents that I Vachel Sewer of Anne Arundel County and State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sume of one hundred dollars Current money to him the said Vachel Sewer to be paid in ten anual installments commencing from the date hereof by |
