242 This Indenture made this Eighteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty three Between John Miller of Anne Arundel County and State of maryland of the one part and Gottlib I Grammar Senior & Adam Miller of the same County and Mary Hunter of the City of Baltimore and State aforesaid of the second part Whereas the said John Miller owes and stands justly indebted to the said Gottlib I Grammar Senior in the sum of four hundred and twenty five dollars Current money by his Single bill dated the Eighteenth day of April in the year Eighteen hundred and forty three and whereas the said Adam Miller and Mary Hunter stand bound for the said John Miller as his securities on owin several bonds as Guardian to Margaret Hunter John M Hunter Sarah Hunter Helena Hunter Mary Hunter Eliza M Hunter and Adam M Hunter dated the third day of September in the year Eighteen hundred and thirty nine and to serve the payment of the aforesaid sum of money to the said Gottlib I Grammar Senior and to indemnify and save harmless the said Adam Miller and Mary Hunter is willing to Execute these presents Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said John Miller for and in consideration of the premises and of the sum of one dollar Current money to him in hand paid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Gottlib I Grammar Sr Adam Miller & Mary Hunter their Executors administrators and assigns the following negro slaves Abram aged about seventy years Dafney aged about seventy years Charity aged about seventy years Fanny aged about forty years Charles aged about twenty two years Eliza aged about Eighteen years Richard aged about fourteen years Nancy aged about two years Rose aged about eight years slaves for life also the following negroes to serve for a term of years John about fifteen years Richard about ten years & Joshua about fourteen years also six horses two mules three pair of oxen fourteen head of horned Cattle sixteen head of Sheep six ploughs 6 harrows and Cultivator one wagon & Harness one ox cart two horse carts one Carriage & harness and also all his household and kitchen furniture now in his possession To have and To hold all and singular the aforesaid property herein before granted bargained and sold or mentioned or intended sot o be unto the said Gottleb I Grammar Senior Adam Miller and Mary Hunter their executors administrators and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the said Gottlib I Grammar Senior Adam Miller & Mary Hunter their Executors administrators and assigns forever Provided always and these presents are upon this condition that if the said John Miller his Executors ^or^ administrators shall and do well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Gottleb I Grammar Senior his Executors administrators or assigns the full sum of four hundred and twenty five dollars current money with legal (interest) |
