230 Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of S Gambrill Ge Miller On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Maryland Anne Arundel County Ss On this 6 February 1843 before me one of the Justices of the peace in and for said County appears James Martin and acknowledges the foregoing writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the Act of Assembly in such case made and provided S Gambrill Exd d d 45 paid Recorded the 14th day of February 1843 Know all men by these presents that we Elizabeth McElheney & Joseph H Craggs administrators of the goods chattels of Dr Gustavus McElheney late of Ann Arundel County and State of maryland and for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand forty five dollars lawful money of the United States in hand paid by Mary Ann Craggs at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Mary Ann Craggs her Executors administrators and assigns the following negroes to serve until they arrive at twenty five years of age to wit Lucretia the daughter of Ellen born 22d July 1834 Charles the son of Ellen born 25th June 1860 Isaac the son of Ellen born 16th February 1836 Hannah the daughter of Mary born 21st may 1829 Charlott the daughter of mary born 25th Augst 1831 Caroline the daughter of mary born 7th August 1834 To have and To hold the said described slaves for the above term of years to the said Mary Ann Craggs her Executors administrators and assigns for ever and we the said administrators for ourselves our heirs Executors and administrators the said negroes for the terms of years aforesaid unto the said Mary Ann Craggs her Executors administrators and assigns against us the said administrators our Executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seal this this 13 day of February Eighteen hundred and forty three Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence Elizabeth McElheney (seal) of Abner Linthicum Joseph H Craggs (seal) Mary Ann Craggs (seal) At the foot of the aforegoing bill of sale was thus written Ann Arundel County Sc Be it remembered That on this thirteen day of February 1843 before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said county appears Elizabeth McElheney Joseph H Craggs & Mary Ann Craggs and acknowledges the above instrument of writing to be this act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof Acknowledged before Abner Linthicum Exd d d paid 6½ 4½ Recorded the 14 day of February 1843 |
