229 thing herein expressed shall be void and of none effect it being the true interest and meaning thereof that the said Gray and brown mare herein before described as mortgaged by me the said Francis J Crandell to secure to the said Mary Ann Crandell the payment of the money aforesaid In Witness whereof I the said Francis J Crandell have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this Eight day of February Eighteen hundred and forty three Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Francis J Crandell (seal) William Watson S P Hamilton On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Ann Arundle County to wit On this Eighth day of February Eighteen hundred and forty three before me one of the Justices of the peace in and for the County and State aforesaid personally appeared Francis J Crandell and acknowledges the foregoing instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the Acts of the assembly of maryland in such case made and provided Exd d d Acknowledged before Saml H Hamilton J P 56½ paid Recorded the 10 day of February 1843 Know all men by these presents that I James Martin of Anne Arundel County and State of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars Current money to me in hand paid by David Mewshaw of the County and State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain & sell unto the said David Mewshaw his Executors administrators and assigns one bay horse one Cow one cart and harness one plough thirteen head of hogs twenty seven of poultry three beds bedsteads & furniture six chairs one table and all the rest and residue of my furniture all which property is now in my possession To have and To hold the same described property above bargained and sold to the said David Mewshaw his Executors administrators and assigns forever to his and their only proper use and benefit And I the said James Martin for myself my Executors and administrators shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents to the said David Mewshaw his Executors administrators and assigns the said described property against me my Executors and administrators and against all and every person or persons whomsoever claiming the same or any part thereof In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the sixth day of February one thousand Eight hundred and forty three his James x Martin (seal) mark signed |
