                   At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit  On this fifth day of November Eighteen
hundred and forty two before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the said state in and for
the County aforesaid personally appears Benjamin E Gantt of the said County and acknowledges
the aforegoing deed or instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true
intent and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly in such case made and provided

5½      Recorded the 17th day of November 1842


    Know all men by these presents that I John G Nichols of Anne Arundel County in
the state of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars Current
money to me in hand paid by Andrew Lamb of the County and state aforesaid the receipt
of which I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents
do grant bargain and sell unto the said Andrew Lamb the following negroes slaves
for life to wit a boy by the name of Charles and a Girl by the name of Charlotte  To have
and To hold the said negroes unto the said Andrew lamb his Executors administrators
and assigns forever  And I the said John G Nichols for myself my heirs executors
and administrators the said Negroes unto the said Andrew Lamb his Executors
administrators and assigns against me the said John G Nichols my Executors and
administrators and assigns all and every person or persons whatsoever will warrant
and for ever defend of which said Negroes I the said John G Nichols have given
possession to the said Andrew Lamb by delivering possession of the same to him the said
Andrew Lamb  In Witness whereof I the said John G Nichols have hereunto
set my hand & seal this twenty second day of October Eighteen hundred and forty
two

                On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

    State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit  On this twenty second day of
October Eighteen hundred and forty two before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the County
and state aforesaid appears John G Nichols he being known to me to be the person who is named
and described as and professing to be party bargainor to the foregoing instrument of writing
and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed  In Witness whereof I have hereunto
 set my hand on the day and year aforesaid                        J W Hunter
