216 This Indenture made this Eleventh day of November in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty two Benjamin E Gantt of Anne Arundel County and State of Maryland of the one part and William T Gantt and Rignal D Woodward of the same County and state of the other part Whereas the said William T Gantt and Rignal D Woodward became the sureties by endorsing a promissory note drawn by the said Benjamin E Gantt for four hundred and fifty dollars bearing date the tenth day of June Eighteen hundred and forty two and made payable in six months from the date thereof and whereas the said Benjamin E Gantt hath agreed to Execute these presents in order to secure the payment of the said promissory note Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said Benjamin E Gantt for and in consideration of the premises at and for and in consideration of the sum of five dollars to him in hand paid by the said William T Gantt and Rignal D Woodward at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said William T Gantt and Rignall D Woodward their Executors administrators and assigns the following property now in the possession of the said Benjamin E Gantt namely one sorrel pony six years old one Eight day clock a cow and [illegible] library consisting of two hundred volumes more or less fourteen hundred bushels of corn now lying at the Andrew Landing one large silver ladle and twenty four silver spoons To have and To hold all and singular the property above bargained and sold unto the said William T Gantt and Rignal D Woodward their Executors administrators and assigns forever Provided always and these presents are upon the Condition thereof the said Benjamin E Gantt his Executors or administrators do and well and truly shall pay the said promissory note endorsed by the said William T Gantt and Rignal D Woodward on or before the tenth day of December and then and in such case these presents and every matter ant thing therein contained shall be void to al intents and purposes And the said Benjamin E Gantt for himself his heirs Executors or administrators all and singular the property herein by these presents granted bargained and sold and every part thereof unto the said William T Gantt and Rignal D Woodward their Executors administrators and assigns against him the said Benjamin E Gantt his Executors or administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatever shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents In Testimony whereof the said Benjamin E Gantt hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first herein before written Benjamin E Gantt (seal) Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of S Gambrill Matthias Hammond At |
