Witnessed by us Tho.s Snowden

                         On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

          State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sct  Be it remembered that on
this seventh day of February Eighteen hundred and thirty nine before the subscriber
a Justice of the peace of the state of maryland in and for Anne Arundel County
personally appear Richard P Snowden and George R Gaither parties to the aforegoing
Instrument of writing and acknowledged the same to be their act and deed

Know all Men by these presents that I Nicholas Martin of Talbot County in the
State of Maryland by virtue of the power and authority vested in me by Thomas
Mulliken of said State and County and for and in Consideration of the sum of
one hundred dollars lawful money to me in hand paid by Theodorick Bland
of Anne Arundel County and state aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby
acknowledge the said Bland now being and for more than one year last
past having been a bona fide resident of the state of maryland have
bargained sold assigned transferred and delivered and hereby doth bargain
sell assign transfer and deliver unto the said Bland his Executors administrators
and assigns all his the said Thomas Mullikens right and title and interest in
and to a negro woman called Harriett aged about twenty two years
and about five feet and two inches high and of a black Colour for and
during the Term of servitude of four years from the first day of January last
and then and thereafter to be free  To have and To hold all the right title
and interest of him the said Thomas Mulliken in and to the said negro
woman to the said Bland his Executors administrators and assigns as
aforesaid and I the said Nicholas Martin for and in the name of the said
Mulliken his heirs Executors and administrators the said negro woman
for the Term of service as aforesaid unto the said Bland his Executors
administrators and assigns against the right title Claim and demand
of him the said Mulliken his Executors administrators and assigns and
all other person or persons whatsoever will for ever warrant and defend
by these presents  In Witness whereof the said Martin agent as above and the said
Bland have hereunto set their hands and seals this fifth day of March in the year
One thousand Eight hundred and thirty nine
