208 administrators and assigns forever provided however that if I the said Gantt my executors or administrators shall on or before the first day of January in the year Eighteen hundred and forty four pay unto the said Alexander his Executors administrators or assigns the Sum of two hundred and fifty dollars now justly due and owing from me to him with interest thereon from the second day of march in the year Eighteen hundred and forty and unto Reverdy Johnson of the City of Baltimore his executors administrators or assigns the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars now due and owing from me to the said Johnson with interest thereon from the second day of march in the year Eighteen hundred and forty then these presents and everything herein Contained shall be null and void and it is hereby understood that until default made in payment of the aforesaid Sums of money it shall and may be lawful for me the said Gosnell my executors and administrators to retain possession of the aforesaid negroes and the service thereof to enjoy peaceably and quietly and without any molestation or interruption on the part of the said Alexander his Executors administrators or assigns In Witness whereof I the said Gantt have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty eighth day of October in the year Eighteen hundred and forty two Benjamin E Gantt (seal) Witness Wm Glover On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit On this twenty Eighth day of October in the year Eighteen hundred and forty two before me a Justice of the peace in and for said County personally appeared the within named Benjamin E Gantt and acknowledged the foregoing Instrument of writing to be his act and deed Wm Glover chd Exd d d 63 Recorded the 4th day of November 1842 Know all Men by these presents that I Thomas W Stinchcomb of Anne Arundel County and state of maryland for and in consideration of Seventy five dollars Current Money of the United States to me in hand paid by William Bryan and Jos I Nicholson of the City of Annapolis in the County and State aforesaid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said William Bryan and Jos I Nicholson their executors administrators and assigns the following personal property to wit One Cotton wine Sein one carryall and four sheep and one Batteau To have and To hold the above described property to the said William Bryan and Jos I Nicholson their executors administrators and assigns and to and for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever And the said Thomas W Stinchcomb for himself his Executors & administrators will warrant and forever defend by these (presents) |
