198 the said stock and produce and other the premises unto the said Henry C Drury of Wm his executors administrators and assigns against me the said Samuel Norman my Executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents In Witness Whereof I have hereunto signed my name and affixed my seal this 2d day of September 1842 Test James Higgins Samuel Norman (seal) H McCeney At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit On this 2 day of September 1842 before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the State of maryland in and for Anne Arundel County appears Samuel Norman the above named Seller and acknowledges the foregoing instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such Cases made and provided James Higgins (seal) chd .44cts 3 Recorded the 21st day of September 1842 Know all men by these presents that I Joshua Johnson of Anne Arundel County and State of Maryland for and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred and fifty three dollars Current money to me in hand paid by Orlander Hancock of the County and State aforesaid at or before the ensealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Joshua Johnson do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do Grant bargain and sell unto the Said Orlander Hancock his Executors administrators and assigns one negro boy Robert to have and To hold the Said Negro boy to the said Orlander Hancock his Executors administrators and assigns to serve untill he shall arrive to age of thirty one years of age and I the said Joshua Johnson for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the aforesaid Negro boy to the said Orlander Hancock his Executors administrators and assigns against me the said Joshua Johnson my Executors and administrators and against all and every person and persons whomsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents Provided Nevertheless that in case I the said Joshua Johnson shall pay and Satisfy to the said Orlander Hancock or to his executors administrators or assigns the sum of one hundred and fifty three dollars Current money with Interest for the same on or before the Last day of August 1843 then this bill of sale and every matter and thing therein expressed shall be void and of none effect it being the true intent and meaning thereof that the said negro boy is mortgaged by me the said Joshua Johnson to secure to the said Orlander Hancock the payment of the money aforesaid In Witness whereof I the said Joshua Johnson have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 30th day of September 1842 his Joshua x Johnson (seal) mark |
