the foregoing Bill of sale or Instrument of writing & doth acknowledge the said
Bill of sale or Instrument of writing to be his act & deed  In Testimony whereof
I hereunto subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid

    This Indenture made this tenth day of February in the year one thousand
Eight hundred and forty two between Somerville Pinkney Trustee as herein after
mentioned of the one part and James F Purvis of the other part whereas by a decree
of the Court of Chancery of the state of maryland bearing date the twenty first day
of December and made on a cause then depending in said Court wherein Thomas
Allein & others are Complainants and Joseph G Hutton and others are defendants
the said Somerville Pinkney was appointed a trustee and authorised and
empowered to sell and dispose of at public sale certain negroes in said
decree mentioned and in pursuance thereof the said Somerville Pinkney
did on the twenty fourth day of January after due notice sell and dispose of
at public sale to the said James F Purvis the following negroes to wit
Juliet aged about Eighteen years and about five feet high Priscilla aged about
twenty years and about two years and whereas the said date has been duly ratified
by the Chancellor and the purchase money fully paid and satisfied and the
said Somerville Pinkney in consideration of the above recited premises and of the
sum of eight hundred and fifty nine dollars to him in hand paid hath
granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and
sell unto the said James F Purvis his Executors administrators and assigns the
aforesaid negroes named Juliet Priscilla and James Henry  To Have and To hold
the said negroes above mentioned unto the said James F Purvis his Executors
administrators and assigns forever  In Witness whereof the said Somerville
Pinkney Trustee as aforesaid hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day
and year first above written
Signed sealed & delivered in the         Somerville Pinkney      (seal)
          presence of Wm Glover                                 Trustee

             At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

State of maryland Anne Arundel County to wit  On this 10 day of February
1842 personally appears Somerville Pinkney before the subscriber a Justice of
the peace in and for said County and acknowledges the within instrument of writing
