    State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sc.t  Be it remembered and it is hereby
Certified that on this seventh day of December Eighteen hundred and forty one
before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for the County aforesaid
personally appears Thomas Parkinson he being known to me to be the person
who is named and described as and professing to be a party to the foregoing
Instrument of writing and doth acknowledge the same to be his act and deed
In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid

    Know all Men by these presents that I Joshua Rawlings of Anne Arundel
County have this day sold to Frederick Rawlings the following property that is to say
My negro servant girl named Emily about Eighteen years old & her son George also
my slave aged four months both slaves for life fine head of cattle three horses and two
carts for which property the said Frederick Rawlings has this day paid me the sum of
five hundred and Eighteen dollars and Eighty cents  To have and To hold all the said
property unto the said Frederick Rawlings his Executors & administrators forever
In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this Sixteenth day of march
Eighteen hundred and thirty nine
Signed Sealed & delivered in presence
of words "both slaves for life" interlined         Joshua Rawlings   (seal)
before execution  John Slee  Jesse Cloud

                On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

    Baltimore Coty Sct  Be it remembered that on this Sixteenth day of March
Eighteen hundred and thirty nine personally appeared Joshua Rawlings the above
grantor before us the Subscribers two Justices of the peace in & for said City and
acknowledged that he executed the within Bill of sale for the uses & purposes therein
mentioned and we further Certify that we of our own knowledge are satisfied
that the said Joshua Rawlings who makes this acknowledgment is the same person
named and described in said Bill of sale as the grantee therein & who Executed
the same                                    John Slee   Jesse Cloud

    State of maryland Baltimore County Sct  I hereby Certify that John Slee and
Jesse Cloud Gentlemen before whom the aforegoing acknowledgment was made and who
have thereto signed their names were at the time of so doing two of the Justices of the
peace of the state of maryland in and for the City of Baltimore duly Commissioned
and Sworn            In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name and affix
          (Seal)         the Seal of baltimore County to wit on this 25th day of march 1839
