144 said James D Weems has hereunto set his hand and seal on the day and year before written Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of James D Weems (seal) Jos Johnson J W Hunter At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel Co Sc.t Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this Seventh Sixth day of November in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty one before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the said state in and for the said County personally appeared James D Weems he being known to me as the party grantor in the foregoing instrument of writing and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof Exd d d J W Hunter chd $1.12 10 Recorded the 1.st day of December 1841 State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit Know all men by these presents that I Solomon Knighton of the State of Maryland and County of Anne Arundel for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty dollars and seventh five Cents Current Money to me in hand paid by John H Urquhart of the State and County aforesaid at or before the Sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Solomon Knighton do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said John H Urquhart his Executors administrators and assigns one Bay Horse Five years old next spring about Thirteen Hands high To have and To hold the said property so as aforesaid described to the said John H Urquhart his Executors administrators and assigns forever and I the said Solomon Knight for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the aforesaid Horse to the said Jno H Urquhart his Executors and administrators and against all and every person and persons whomsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents Provided Nevertheless that in Case I the said Solomon Knighton shall pay and satisfy to the said Jno H Urquhart or his Executors administrators or assigns the Sum of Twenty Dollars and Seventy five Cents Current Money with Int due on the Same on or before the 4.th Day of Decemb.r 1842 next ensuing then this bill of sale and every matter and thing therein expressed shall be void and of none effect it being the true Intent and Meaning thereof that the said property is mortgaged by me to the said John H Urquhart for the payment of the Money as aforesaid as a Collateral Security on the Same In Witness whereof I the said Solomon Knighton have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 4 day of Decr 1841 Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Solomon Knighton (seal) Lewis Sutton J.r Thos H Lyles |
