132 woman named Betty aged about thirty Eight years boy John aged about seven Years boy David aged about four years boy Thomas aged about six months and girl Juliet aged about seven years Three yoke work oxen and four cows and Eight head of horses and now in my possession To have and To hold the said Negroes Sam Betty John David Thomas Juliet and Three yoke of Oxen four cows and Eight head of horses to the said James Owens Junr his Executors administrators and assigns forever And I the said Nicholas Owens for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the aforesaid negroes Sam Betty John David Thomas and Juliet and Three yoke of Oxen four Cows and Eight head of horses to the said James Owens Jun.r his Executors administrators and assigns against me the said Nicholas Owens my Executors and administrators and against all and every person and persons whomsoever shall and will forever defend by these presents Provided Nevertheless that in case I the said Nicholas Owens shall pay and satisfy to the said James Owens Jun.r or to his Executors administrators or assigns the sum of sixteen hundred dollars Current money with interest for the same on or before the twentieth day of July Eighteen hundred and forty five then this bill of sale and every matter and thing therein expressed shall be void and of none effect it being the true intent and meaning thereof that the said Negroes Same Betty John David Thomas and Juliet And the three yoke of oxen four Cows and Eight head of horses is mortgaged by me the said Nicholas Owens to secure to the said James Owens Junr the payment of the money aforesaid In witness whereof I the said Nicholas Owens have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the twenty day of July Eighteen hundred and forty one Signed Sealed and delivered in N Owens (seal) presence of Saml H Hamilton At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit On this twentieth day of July 1841 before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid appears Nicholas Owens and acknowledges the foregoing writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such case made and provided Exd d d chd $ 63 5 Recorded the 26th day of July 1841 Whereas James Robinson of Anne Arundel County in the State of maryland by a will bearing date September the eight Eighteen hundred and twenty four duly executed |
