131 following Property vizt That is to say one Bay Mare four years old this summer and my present crop of corn and Tobacco which is now on the ground in a state of cultivation or growing upon the Farm which I rent of L Taneyhill Representative To have and To hold the said property so as aforesaid described to the said Richard Stallings his Executors administrators and assigns forever and I the said Thomas B Crandle for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the aforesaid property as above to the said Richard Stalling his Executors and administrators and against all and every person and persons whomsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents Provided Nevertheless that in case I the said Thomas B Crandle shall pay and satisfy to the said Richard Stallings or his Executors administrators or assigns the sum of one hundred & fifty dollars and seventy five Cents Current money with the Interest due on the same on or before the 20th day of July 1842 next ensuing then this BIll of sale and every matter and thing therein expressed shall be void and of none effect It being the true Intent and meaning thereof that the said property is mortgaged by me to the said Richard Stallings for the payment of the money as aforesaid and Collateral security on the same In Witness whereof I the said Thomas B Crandle have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the ninth day of July 1841 Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of THomas B Crandall (seal) Lewis Sutton S.r Benjamin McDowell At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Ann Arundel County to wit On this 9th day of July in the year of our Lord 1841 Came before me the Subscriber one of the Justices of the peace in and for the state and County aforesaid Thomas B Crandle and acknowledged the foregoing Instrument of writing to be his act and deed And the property therein named to be the right and Estate of the therein named Richard Stallings upon the proviso contained therein according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly in such cases made and provided as witness my hand and seal Taken and acknowledged before Lewis Sutton S.r chd 62 Recorded the 19th day of July 1841 Know all men by these presents that I Nicholas Owens of Anne Arundel County and state of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of sixteen hundred dollars to me in hand paid by James Owens Junior of the County and state aforesaid at or before the ^en^sealing of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Nicholas Owens do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold And by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said James Owens Junr his Executors administrators and assigns 1 negro Sam aged about Eighteen years one (woman) |
