119 Know all men by these presents that I Mary A Baldwin of Anne Arundel County in the state of maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of seventy five dollars Current money to me in hand paid by David Johnson of the said State and County at and before the Sealing and delivering these presents the receipt whereof I the said Mary A Baldwin do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said David Johnson his Executors administrators and assigns my negro girl named Mary Eleanor To have and To hold the said Negro above bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so to be to the said David Johnson his Executors administrators and assigns for ever and I the said Mary H Baldwin for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the said negro girl Mary Eleanor unto the said David Johnson his Executors administrators and assigns against me the said Mary H Baldwin my Executors and administrators and assigns all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents of which said negro girl Mary Eleanor I the said Mary H Baldwin have put the said David Johnson in full possession by delivering to him the said Negro Girl Mary Eleanor at the sealing and delivering of these presents In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 10th day of march 1841 witnessed Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Joseph M Tate Henry Baldwin Mary Hall Baldwin (seal) To all whom it may concern be it known that I David Johnson of Anne Arundel County in the state of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free And by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman Mary Eleanor Johnson on the 28th day of November Eighteen hundred and forty two then being of the age of eighteen years and her the said Negro woman Mary Eleanor Johnson I do declare to be thenceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me my Executors or administrators or any person or persons claiming under me whatsoever In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 10th day of march A D one thousand Eight hundred and forty one Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of David x Jonson (seal) Joseph M Tate Henry Baldwin paid 4½ Recorded the 24th day of march 1841 Know all men by these presents that I Thomas D Marriott of Ann Arundel County and state of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of Eight hundred dollars lawful money of the united states in hand paid by William McCurley of the City of Baltimore at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt (whereof) |
