Know all men by these presents that I Richard Swann of Anne
Arundel County in the state of maryland for and in Consideration of the
Sum of nine hundred dollars Current money to me in hand paid by Lemuel
G Taylor of Baltimore County in the said state at and before the sealing
and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Richard Swann
do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these
presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Lemuel G Taylor
his Executors administrators and assigns one negro boy Dennis aged
about twenty and one other negro boy Edward aged about fifteen
years both slaves for life  To have and To hold both the said negro
boys slaves for life above particularly described and bargained and
sold or mentioned and intended so to be to the said Lemuel G Taylor
his Executors administrators and assigns forever  In witness whereof
I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty third day of
September in the year Eighteen hundred and forty

    State of Maryland Ann Arundel County to wit  Know all men
by these presents that Thomas Crandle of Able of the County and state aforesaid
for and in Consideration of the sum of one hundred and Thirty Dolls
and seventy five Cents Current money to me in hand paid by William T
Whittington of Friendship merchants in the same County and state as
aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof
I do hereby acknowledge have granted and sold and by these presents do
grant bargain and sell unto the said William T Whittington his
Executors administrators and assigns the following property vizt one Grey
horse about fifteen years old one brindle milch Cow and Calf one black
Sow and Pigs hogs one and one third year old one mahogany dining
Table Two Feather beads and beadsteads six chairs all of which is now in
my possession  To have and To hold the same described property above
bargained and sold to the said William T Whittington his Executors administrators
and assigns forever to his and their only proper use and benefit and I the said
Thomas Crandle for myself my Executors and administrators shall and will
warrant and defend by these presents to the said William T Whittington
his Executors administrators and assigns the said described property against
me my heirs Executors and administrators and against all and every other person
