that on this second day of February eighteen hundred and fifty
four before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the said state
in and for said County personally appeared William B Hammond
he being known to me to be the person who is named
and described as and professing to be a party to the foregoing
deed or indenture and doth acknowledge the said Indenture a
Instrument of writing to be his act and deed
In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand on the day
and year above written

1'Oclock P. M. same day recorded & examined per

Bill of sale
   to
Anna Maria Hopkins
 Know all men by these presents
that we John S Tyson and Rachel
Tyson of Howard County State of
Maryland for and in consideration of
the sum of one hundred dollars to the
Said Rachel Tyson in hand paid the receipt whereof
she hereby acknowledges have bargained and sold and
delivered and by these presents do bargain sell and deliver
unto Anna Maria Hopkins of said County all our right
title interest claim and demand in and to the unexpired
time of Mary Jane our negro slave for a term of Years
which will end on the sixth day of February 1855 at
which time she will be free      To Have and To Hold
the said unexpired time of the said slaves & all our
right title and interest therein unto the said Anna
Maria Hopkins her executors Administrators and assigns
forever   In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our
hands and affixed our seals this second day of February
eighteen hundred and fifty four
