this tenth day of April Eighteen hundred &
forty two contracted with and sold to James
Harban of Howard District & state aforesaid
his slave Cordelia for the term of two years ten
months and seven days from this date and
also her three Children named George Washington
Sarah and Mary Jane born respectively
october 28.th 1838 August 5.th 1840 and
July 1.st 1842 all of whom (the said children)
are to serve the said James Harban till they
shall attain the age of twenty one years and
then to be free.  In consideration for which
the said James Harban hereby agrees to pay
the said Tho.s C. Miller the sum of seventy
five dollars current money and the said
Ja.s Harban agrees and hereby bind himself
and his heirs or assigns to manumit and set
free the children which the said woman
may have during the said term of two years
ten months and seven days when they shall
attain the age of twenty one years and the
said Thomas C. Miller agrees and binds his
heirs &c that the said James Harban shall
and may have and hold quit and peaceable
possession of the said woman and children
free and clear from all hindrance or interuption
by the said Miller or any person
claiming under him to the faithful
performance of this contract the said Thomas
C. Miller and the said James Harban have
each bound themselves and each of their
heirs each to the other in the penal sum of
five hundred dollars.  In Testimony whereof
the said parties have  unto set their hands
and affixed their seals on the date aforesaid
and in the presence of

Rec Aug.t 10.th 1842 from M.r James Harban a note
at six months which when paid will be in full
consideration for the said slaves named in
the foregoing contract (the note is for seventy
five dollars with interest)            Thomas C. Miller

Received the recorded on the 3.d day of April 1855 at 2 o'clock P.M.
