mule, one sorrel mare mule one Brown horse one Bay
mare mule and four Carts and harness.  To Have and to
hold the said described mules Horse & Carts and harness to the
said Walker & Gray their executors administrators & assigns
forever  And I the Said Pearce Curll for myself my heirs
executors and administrators the said three mules one horse
four Carts & Harness unto the said Walker & Gray their legal
representatives against me the said Pearce Curll my executors
and administrators and against all and every other person
or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever
defend by these presents.  Provided Nevertheless and it is
the true intent and meaning of these presents and of the parties
hereto that in case I the said Pearce Curll my Executors
or administrators shall well and truly pay and satisfy unto
the said Walker and Gray the four following named and described
promissory notes drawn by me the said Pearce Curll
payable to the order of said Walker & Gray bearing date the
first day of May 1860 viz one note payable at 6 months after
date for $153.48, one note payable at 9 months after date
for $153.48 one note payable at 12 months after date for $153.48
making in the whole sum of six hundred and thirteen dollars
and ninety two cents which said notes bear interest from date
till paid (It being agreed and understood that ^this^ is mortgage
is not to be closed until the term of fifteen months from
this date shall expire) then this bill of sale and every matter
and thing herein contained and expressed shall be null
and void otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue
it being the true intent and meaning hereof that the said
mules Horse Carts and Harness are mortgaged by use to
said Walker and Gray to secure the payment of said sum
of six hundred & thirteen dollars & ninety two cents and all
interest that may become due thereon  Witness my hand
and Seal this 15th day of May 1860

I hereby Certify that on this fifteenth day of May 1860 before
me the Subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland
in and for the city of Baltimore aforesaid personally appeared
Pearce Curll and acknowledged the within or foregoing Bill
of Sale to be his act also appeared Elias Walker one of the
firm of Walker & Gray Mortgagees named therein and
made oath according to law that the consideration therein
expressed is bona fide true as is therein set forth
