44 of eighteen years at which time she is to have and receive the sum of thirty dollars current money allso a good suit of clothing as freedom dues; the said Julian Wrim to have and to hold the said negro girl for and during the period above mentioned unto the said Stephen Balderston his executors administrators and assigns and the said Julianna Wrim for herself her executors and administrators doth covenant to and with the said Stephen Balderston his executors administrators and assigns that she will warrat and defend the said negro girl during the period and term for which she is hereby sold and conveyed to the said Balderston his heirs executors administrators and assigns against the lawfull claim or demand of all and every person whatsoever; And the said Julianna W^r^im doth hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free the said negro girl who was born April eight one thousand eigh hundred and forty two to serve up to the age of eighteen at which time she is considered able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance at and from the termination of the said period of years And then she does declare said negro girl to be free Manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to him his executors or administrators from and after the termination of the above term and period aforesaid. In witness whereof the said Julianna Wrimm and the said Stephen Balderston have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first therein above written. It is the true intention of this agreement that the above named girl is not to be taken out of the State of Maryland Signed sealed and Julia A. Wrim (seal) delivered in presence of Stephen Balderston (seal) Ignatius Waters J. Peace State of Maryland Howard County to wit: Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this twenty first day of July eighteen hundred and fifty four before me the subscriber a justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for Howard County personally appeared Julianna Wrim and Stephen Balderston who are known to me of my own knowledge to be the persons who are named and described as and professing to be the parties grantors in the |
