and conveyed and by these presents doth bargain sell and convey unto said Richard G Simpson of said County my negro girl named Isabella Thornton who was born on the eighth day of May Eighteen hundred and fifty seven. To serve the said Richard G Simpson for the term of Twenty five years from the date of her birth that is to say To serve until she is twenty five years old then to be free (which will be on the eighth day of May 1882) To have and to hold the said negro girl for the term specified unto the said Richard G Simpson his heirs and assigns. In testimony whereof the parties aforesaid have hereunto affixed their hands and set their seals this fourth day of August 1859 signed sealed and delivered William Simpson (seal) in the presence of Richard G Simpson (seal) Richard Nicholson State of Maryland: Howard County Sct: Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this fourth day of August in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine before the Subscriber a Justice of the Peace for Howard County aforesaid personally appear William Simpson and Richard G Simpson parties to the foregoing Instrument of writing and do severally acknowledge the same to be their respective act and deed and at the same time before me the said Richard G Simpson the bargaingee within named makes oath in due form of law that the consideration set forth in the foregoing bill of sale is true and bonna fida as therein set forth In testimony whereof I here unto subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid Richard Nicholson J. P Received to be recorded on the 10th day of September 1859 and same day Recorded & Examined per. W. W. Watkins clk |
