Washington Waters
Indenture to
George A Rhoades
This Indenture Made this twenty fourth
day of August in the year of our Lord
Eighteen and fifty nine Between Washington
Waters of Howard County in the
State of Maryland of the one part and George A Rhoades
of the County and State aforesaid of the other part  Witnesseth
that the Said Washington Waters hath placed and bound out
and by these presents doth place and bind out as an apprentice
his daughter Fanny Waters Who on the first day of
August Next will be of the age of nine years to the Said
George A Rhoades to learn the trade art and mystery of general
house work after the manner of an apprentice the said
Fanny Waters to dwell with and Serve the said George A
Rhoades from the date of these presents untill the first day
of August When the said Fanny Waters Shall attain to the
age of Eighteen years during all of which time and term
the said Fanny Waters shall the Said Geo A Rhoades well
and truly and faithfully Serve in all respects in such
lawful business as the Said Fanny Waters Shall be put
unto by her Said master according to the power and ability
of her the Said Fanny Waters and honestly and obediently
in all things shall behave herself towards her Said Master
and honestly and orderely toward the rest of the family
of him the Said George A Rhoades
    And the Said Geo A Rhoades on his part doth hereby
promise Covenant and agree to teach and instruct the said
art trade or calling of general house work by the best
way or means he can  And Shall well and faithfully find
and provide for the said Apprentice good and Sufficient
meat drink clothing Lodging and such other necessary foot
fit and Convenient for such an apprentice during the term
aforesaid  And at the expiration thereof shall give unto the
said apprentice two suits of Wearing apparel one suitable
for Sundays and the other for Working days.  And the Said
Geo A Rhoades shall on the delivery of these presents pay unto
the said Washington Waters the sum of Twenty dollars for
and in Consideration of this contract
    In Testimony Whereof the Said parties have hereunto interchangeably
set their hands and affixed their Seals on this
day and year above Written                        his
Signed Sealed and delivered      Washington x Waters   (Seal)
