named Martha Whittington a slave for the term of sixteen years from this date (being now about twenty years of age) The said negro woman being a slave for the term of sixteen years from the date hereof and no longer and the said Joel Blew being entitled to the said slave for the whole of said term. It is also understood and agreed that he issue to the latest generation are entitled to freedom at the age of thirty five years It is further understood and agreed that the said Jasper M Berry and his representatives are only entitled to the said Martha and her issue for the respective terms above mentioned named and if the laws of the State of Maryland will not allow the said negro woman or her issue to enjoy their freedom at the end of their respective terms that she and they shall then revert to the said Joel Blew and |
