348 Peter Jackson hath placed and bound out his son Samuel M Jackson for three years ending on the twelfth day of April one thousand eight hundred and sixty two the said George Ellicott binds himself to pay to the said Peter Jackson seventy five cents per month for the period of three years and to furnish said apprentice with clothing boord and Lodging In testimony whereof the said Peter Jackson and George Ellicott have hereunto interchangeably set their seal the day and year first above written Signed Sealed & delivered Peter Jackson (seal) in presence of George Ellicott (seal) Wm Allen J P W Allen Received for Record the 12th day of April 1859 and same day Recorded and Examined Pr. W W Watkins Clk
of Anne Arundel County do hereby bargain and sell to the said Basil Smith the following negroes as slaves for life namely Catharine Mathas aged about thirty years and her three children Charles Mathews aged about seven years Benjamin Mathas aged about five years and Augustus Mathas aged about seven months In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twelfth day of April in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine his Witnessed by William X Cecil (seal) Chas Soper mark M R Smith State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to Wit I hereby Certify that on this Twelfth day of April in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine before the Subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Anne Arundel County personally appeared William Cecil (he being well known to me to be the party Vender to this bill of sale and acknowledged the same to be his act Charles Soper J P Received to be recorded on the 13th day of April 1859 same day Recorded and Examined per W W Watkins clk |
