and sell to the said Thomas H Gaither my two negro slaves to wit: the one named John Brewer aged about forty two years the other named Dick aged Eighteen years the above named negroes being slaves for life and I the said James D Cooke do hereby invest with and make over to the said Thomas H Gaither all rights to and interest in the slaves from and after the date of these presents Witness our hands and seals this thirtieth day of March Eighteen hundred and fifty nine Test James D Cooke (seal) Wm A Loder Thomas H Gaither (seal) State of Maryland Howard County to wit: I hereby certify that on this thirtieth day of March in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty nine before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the said state in and for the county aforesaid personally appeared James D Cooke and acknowledged the aforegoing Bill of Sale to be his act. And at the same time also before me appeared Thomas H Gaither and made oath in due form of law that the Consideration in the said Bill of sale is true and bona fida as therein set forth W A Loder J P Received to be recorded on the 12th day of April 1859 and same day Recorded and Examined pr.
