Administrators and assigns forever and I hereby covenant and agree for
myself my heirs executors administrators and assigns to and with
the said party of the second part to warrant and defend the sale of
the said negro woman hereby old unto the said party of the second
part his Executors Administrators and assigns Against all and every
person or persons whomsoever lawfully claiming the said negro
above mentioned                        In witness whereof I have hereunto
set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of March Eighteen hundred

On the fifteenth day of March Eighteen hundred and fifty nine
personally appeared before me the subscriber a justice of the Peace
in for the said County.  William D Warfield and acknowledged
the within Bill of sale to be his act and deed for the consideration
mentioned and at the same time appeared Oliver M Warfield
the party of the second part and made oath on the Holy Evangelly
of Almighty God that the same was a bona fide sale and that
the money mentioned was truly paid

Henry O Devries
 I Sumantha Hobbs of Howard County
in the state of Maryland in consideration
of two hundred ^& fifty^ dollars paid me by Henry
O. Devries, a resident of Howard County do
                          hereby bargain and sell to the said Henry O Devries my negro slave
                          Amanda Jane to serve until the first day of May in the year
                          of our Lord Eighteen hundred and seventy three and no longer; &
                          the said Sumantha Hobbs being entitled to said slave for
                          the whole of said term.   Witness our hands and seals this second
                          day of March A. D. Eighteen hundred and fifty nine

                          I hereby Certify that on this second day of March Eighteen
